Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Judd's Golden Goal Gives Men's Soccer 3-2 Senior Day Win

JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College men's soccer team closed out the 2019 regular season on Saturady with a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match against Birmingham-Southern.

The match was tied 1-1 at halftime, and a second-half goal for each team sent the game into extra time. Late in the second period of overtime the Majors got a goal from Brett Judd to give them the 3-2 win.

The victory pushes the Millsaps record to 6-9 overall and 2-5 in conference play. The Panthers fall to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the SAA.

How It Happened
Luca Kistner, who was one of seven Majors playing their final game at Harper Davis Field, got Millsaps on the board first with his third goal of the season in the 26th minute.

Unfortunately BSC answered right back with a goal of their own less than two minutes later to tie things up at 1-1.

That score would hold until the halftime break.

Coming out of the locker room it was clear that Millsaps wanted to turn up the offensive pressure, and it showed as the Majors outshot BSC 9-6 in the second half.

In the 61st minute senior Alfie Miller made an outstanding save on a BSC look at goal, he then triggered a Major fast-break with a long throw out to Judd. He took the ball the length of the field before finding Gabriel Ryce inside the box. Ryce finished the pass for his seventh goal of the year.

The Panthers refused to quit however, and they broke through for the equalizer late in the 85th minute.

In the first period of overtime Millsaps dominated possession, but was unable to get a goal.

That changed late in the second extra period when Judd collected a loose ball off a corner kick and sent a shot that found the upper right corner of the net for the golden goal.

What's Next?
Millsaps now awaits to see who they will play in the opening round of the SAA Championships. A finalized bracket will be released later this weekend.
