JACKSON, Miss. -- Millsaps College junior defensive lineman
Liam Vincifora is one of 10 nominees for the C Spire Conerly Trophy, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum announced Monday.
The C Spire Conerly Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding college football player in Mississippi. The 10 nominees represent the football-playing universities and colleges across the state and have been chosen by their athletic departments. The winner will be announced Tuesday, December 3, at the Country Club of Jackson.
A combination of votes from the C Spire fan voting and a poll of sports news media representatives determine the winner. Fan voting begins today at 5 p.m. CT and runs through noon on Sunday, December 1. Voters can cast a ballot up to three times per day at

This nomination is the result of a monster season for Vincifora. The Covington, Louisiana native was named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Defensive Player of the Year and, for the second consecutive season, earned an All-SAA First Team nod.
He totaled 59 tackles, 32 of them solo, 21 tackles-for-loss, 14 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 4 QB hurries and 4 pass breakups.
Vincifora led the SAA, and currently ranks third in all of NCAA Division III in sacks. He also led the league in tackles-for-loss, and recorded at least a share of sack in 8 of the 10 games Millsaps played this season.
He was named the SAA Defensive Player of the Week after his week five performance against Centre College, and twice earned a spot on the D3Football.com Team of the Week.
The C Spire Conerly Trophy is named after College Football Hall of Famer Charlie Conerly, the Clarksdale, Mississippi native who starred for Ole Miss and the New York Giants. The trophy was first conferred in 1996.
In 2008, after throwing for 3,463 yards and 32 touchdowns, Juan Joseph became the only player from Millsaps College to ever win the award.
The other finalists for the award are: Alcorn State quarterback Felix Harper, Belhaven quarterback Hunter McEachern, Delta State defensive back Junior Falk, Jackson State linebacker Keonte Hampton, Mississippi College quarterback Detric Hawthorn, Mississippi State running back Kylin Hill, Mississippi Valley defensive back Tracy Thompkins, Ole Miss quarterback John Rhys Plumlee, and Southern Mississippi quarterback Jack Abraham.
