SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Millsaps College women's tennis traveled to Louisiana on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference match with the Ladies of Centenary College.
The match saw the Majors grab a crucial 2-1 advantage after doubles' play, and then sweep through the singles' matches to score an 8-1 win.
Millsaps now sits at 4-0 overall on the year, while Centenary falls to 0-2.
How It Happened
The team of
Jordyn Kanak and
Tori Barbier scored an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, while the No. 3 doubles pair of
Sarah Hayek and
Isabella Hutchins were not far behind with an 8-0 win of their own to get things going for the Majors.
Unfortunately, the Ladies scored a thrilling 8-7 win at the No. 1 spot to make it 2-1 heading into singles.
It was there that Millsaps completely dominated.
Barbier swept her opponent at No. 3 by scores of 6-0, 6-0, and
Amelia Christy picked up at 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 to give the Majors a 4-1 advantage.
Natalie Toups took the No. 1 spot 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the win for Millsaps, while
Camille Landry, Hutchins and Hayek all picked up wins to close out the 8-1 win.
What's Next?
The Majors will stay in Shreveport for a pair of matches tomorrow. They will play LeTourneau University at 10:00 a.m. and wrap up the weekend with a 3:00 p.m. match against Austin College. Both matches will be held at the Cockrell Tennis Center.
