ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Millsaps College women's tennis team took on Swarthmore College in a neutral site spring break match on Wednesday morning.
Singles was played first in this one, and the teams found themselves locked in a 3-3 tie. Unfortunately Swartmore took two of three in the doubles matches to pull out the 5-4 win.
The loss drops the Majors record to 8-3 this season. Swarthmore improves to 4-2.
How It Happened
Grace Gaskins got things going for Millsaps with a huge 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 spot
Maggie Dabadie dropped the first set 0-6, but rebounded to win set two 6-2 and took the tiebreaker 10-7 to score the point for the Majors.
The third Millsaps point came from
Marissa Brown at No. 5. Her three-set victory tied the match at 3-3 heading into doubles play.
Unfortunately the Garnet took two of three to secure the win. It was the No. 1 combination of Gaskins/Dabadie who scored the lone victory in doubles for the Majors.
What's Next?
Millsaps will wrap up their spring break trip tomorrow against Ohio Wesleyan University. Matches are set to begin at 11:00 a.m. CT.
