ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Millsaps College women's tennis wrapped up their spring break trip on Thursday evening with a match against Ohio Wesleyan University. The Majors were in control from start to finish en route to a 7-2 win.
The victory improves the Millsaps record to 9-3 overall this season. The Bishops fall to 1-8.
How It Happened
The Majors dominated the trio of doubles matches to grab a 3-0 lead.
Grace Gaskins and
Maggie Dabadie picked up an 8-3 win at No. 1, while
Ella Shields and
Morris Kelly Clayton cruised to an 8-1 win in the No. 2 spot. The team of
Natalie Toups and
Amelia Christy capped off the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 3.
In singles, the Bishops responded to grab wins at No. 2 and No. 6, but it was all Millsaps the rest of the way.
Gaskins scored a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1,
Jillian Sandoz continued her strong week with a 6-0, 7-6 win at No. 3 and despite dropping the first set,
Jordyn Kanak came back for a tiebreaker win at No. 4.
At singles No. 5, Toups polished off the 7-2 victory for Millsaps with her second win of the day.
What's Next?
The Majors return to Jackson were they will have some time off from matches to prepare for the conference portion of their schedule. Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play gets underway on Saturday, March 30th with a trip to Berry College.
