STARKVILLE, Miss.—The Majors men's and women's track and field teams took on some stout competition as they headed to Starkville for Mississippi State's Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays.
Men
Zach Deihl had a good showing in the 800 meters, finishing 15
th overall out of more than 30 runners with a time of 2:01.19. Fellow distance runner
Grant Yancey crossed the finish line of the 1500 meters with a time of 4:33.24.
Millsaps had multiple runners compete in the hurdles over the weekend with
Maximilian Ostler completing the 110 meter hurdles in 18.68 and teammates
Xavier Venious and
Landon Wimberley running the 400 hurdles in 57.99 and 1:00.53, respectively.
Freshman
Storm Buescher finished 10
thoverall in the high jump with a height of 1.90 meters.
Asael Hernandez-Loredo had a discus throw of 40.73 meters and 48.34 meter throw in the hammer. Throwing teammate
Michael Tadda had a javelin toss distance of 54.46 meters.
Women
Aliyah Gillespie made her 2019 debut, running in the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.78.
Distance runners
Isabel Baird and
Alli Despaux competed in the 800 meters, finishing in times of 2:45.46 and 2:55.28, respectively. Teammates
Abby Tew,
Miranda Gaupp and
Lily Pudlik finished the 1500 meter course in 5:21.79, 5:24.75 and 5:36.23, respectively.
Carolina Teague ran the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:15.74.
Jumper
Shelby Wilson reached a height of 1.60 meters, good enough for 18
th.
Payton Passantino finished 9
thin the javelin with a distance of 37.91 meters.

The track and field teams will be back in action next weekend at the Hilltop Classic on the campus of Birmingham Southern.
