ROME, Ga. – The second day of the 2026 Southern Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships featured several exceptional performances by the Millsaps College men's and women's track and field programs inside Valhalla Stadium on Saturday.
Freshman
Benjamin Sylve (Canton, Miss.) crushed the 800-meter school record, while several others also scored points for the Majors. The men's team finish eighth with 28 points in a high-scoring meet. The women's squad tallied 10 points to secured a seventh-place team showing.
Sylve finished sixth after covering the two laps in 1 minutes, 56.42 seconds, bettering the previous top time by nearly two seconds.
A day after winning the 10,000 meters, sophomore
Greer Hernandez secured fifth in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:37.60.
Continuing the stellar distance display was freshman
Dallas Stricker. Stricker became the second-swiftest runner in the 1500 meters, where he earned 11th place in a blistering 4:07.58.
His classmate
Frederick Fluker Jr. bettered his own standing as the third-best Major in the 110-meter hurdles. He cleared the barriers in 16.12, crossing the line in eighth in the Final.
Junior
Fiona Selders was electric once again in the women's sprints. She bettered her own placement as the second-fastest Major in 100 meters. On Saturday, she closed in 12.38 to claim sixth place. Selders also scored the Majors points in the 200 meters, claiming seventh in 25.40.
The field crew had a terrific second day for the Majors. On the women's side, senior
Eleanor Scott scored in a pair of events. She sailed to seventh place in the high jump (season-best 1.52 meters) as well as eighth in the triple jump (10.85 meters).
Fellow senior
Amari Jackson-Wright bettered her mark as the fourth-furthest thrower in the shot put. She closed the meet in 12th with a mark of 10.61 meters.
Competing well in the throws alongside Jackson-Wright in the discus on Saturday were junior
Amelia Bohl, junior
Reese Brasseaux, and sophomore
Laken Day. Bohl covered 32.97 meters (11th), Jackson-Wright reached 30.66 meters (17th), Brasseaux secured 24.51 meters (19th), and Day tallied 21.62 meters (20th).
The men's throwers were led by freshman
Sean Wyers. Wyers improved his standing in the school record books, including his second-place ranking in the discus. He launched the apparatus 42.56 meters to place sixth individually.
Not to be out done was classmate
Michael Cosgriff, who is now the third-best thrower in the discus. He secured ninth with a mark of 40.62 meters. Behind them were freshman
Jacacri Watson (11th, personal-best 37.46 meters) and sophomore
Dillon Duley (19th, 32.90 meters).
In the men's shot put, Watson was 11th (personal-best 12.26 meters), Duley was 13th (11.96 meters), and Cosgriff was 17th (10.57 meters).
The relays tallied a collection of points for the Majors as well. In the men's 4x100-meter relay, sophomore

Wyatt Wheeler zoomed to fifth place (43.44).
Both the men's and women's ran well in their respective 4x400-meter relay season debuts. The men, paced by Brice, Sylve, Stricker and Price, earned sixth place in 3:30.87. Millsaps claimed seventh in 4:17.03 on the women's side, who were represented by sophomore
