JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College baseball team returned to Twenty Field on Sunday afternoon to conclude a weekend series with the Hendrix College Warriors.
Hendrix scored an unearned run early, and used a pair of two-run innings late to pull away for the 5-0 win.
The loss drops the Majors to 5-21 overall this year and 2-9 in the SAA. The weekend sweep improves the Warriors to 22-7 overall, and they are alone atop the SAA standings with a 9-3 mark in league play.
How It Happened
Barret Kaul got the start on the mound for Millsaps, and he turned in an outstanding outing. For 5.1 innings he scattered five hits, and the one run he allowed in the 3rd was unearned. He struck out four Warrior batters before exiting midway through the 6th inning.
Langston Haden replaced Kaul on the mound, and was able to get out of jam to keep the game at 1-0. Unfortunately, Hendrix scored four runs, two of them unearned, over the final three innings to move their advantage to 5-0.
The offense scattered five hits over the afternoon.
Jimmy Johnstone had the lone extra base hit, a lead off double in the bottom of the 1st inning.
