JACKSON, Miss. -- After playing a pair of non-conference games earlier this week, the Millsaps College baseball team dips back into Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play this weekend. The Majors welcome the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern to town for a three-game set.
Check out the game notes below for all of the details on this weekend's series.
Last Week
Millsaps dropped a pair of games to East Texas Baptist University and cross-town rival Belhaven earlier this week.
On Tuesday, the Majors faced off with the Tigers of ETBU for the second time this season. Some defensive miscues cost Millsaps as ETBU picked up the 6-3 win.
On Wednesday night the team made the short drive to Smith-Wills Stadium for the first game of the 2019 Cowboy Maloney Series with cross-town rival Belhaven. The Blazers dominated the early innings of the ballgame before a furious 8th inning comeback by the Majors made things interesting. Unfortunately Belhaven was able to answer with 5 runs in their half of the 8th inning to pull away for the 13-7 win.
Millsaps jumps back into SAA play this weekend with a 3-12 overall record. They are 1-1 in conference play after splitting a doubleheader with Centre College last weekend.
Friday, March 8th 4:00 p.m. & Saturday, March 9th 12:00 p.m. (DH) vs Birmingham-Southern College (10-4, 0-0 SAA)

The Panthers come into the weekend middle of the pack in most offensive categories, but their pitching staff has a combined ERA of 2.39 and an opponent's batting average of .213. Both of those numbers are second-best in the league.
Senior Tyler Wise leads the BSC offense with a .350 batting average, while sophomore Preston Munns is leading run producer with 12 RBIs so far.
On the mound, senior Richie Misischia is off to a 4-0 start on the year. He leads the SAA in wins. Meanwhile, senior Jake Cook leads the team with a 1.96 ERA. As a team, the Panthers have struck out 80 batters in 118 innings pitched.
