ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Millsaps College women's tennis team kicked off spring break by traveling to Georgia for a match with the Eagles of Emory University.
The Eagles are ranked as the No. 1 in the country in the latest Oracle/ITA NCAA Division III Women's Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
Emory proved worthy of that ranking today, as they handed the Majors their first loss of the 2019 season by a final score of 9-0.
How It Happened
The Eagles jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in doubles play winning by scores of 8-1, 8-1, 8-0.
In singles play it was
Grace Gaskins at the No. 1 spot that was close to getting a point for the Majors, but in the end her opponent pulled out the 6-4, 6-3 win.
Emory swept through the remainder of the matches for the 9-0 win.
The loss drops the Majors to 7-1 overall on the year.
What's Next?
Millsaps will now continue their annual spring break trip by traveling to the Sunshine State of Florida for a week of matches in Orlando. It all gets underway for the Majors on Monday at 9:00 a.m. CT against Case Western Reserve University.
