BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Millsaps wrapped up their 2019 SAA regular season on Sunday against BSC.
Just like the first two games, the Majors struggled offensively, only mustering three hits, as BSC took the final game of the series 2-0.
How It Happened
Millsaps was able to put runners on in the first and second after walks from
Ty Bergeron and
Morgan McCrea, but couldn't push anything across off BSC starter Bailey Murphy. Majors starter
Karley Williams was dealing as well, keeping the Panthers high-powered offense off the board and keeping Millsaps in the game.
The Majors best chance to score came in the top of the third.
Mackenzie Johnson led off with a walk before back-to-back singles from
Jordan Lipari and
Kendall Carder loaded the bases. The Panthers then made a switch, bringing game one winner Haley Crumpton on to pitch. She was able to retire the next three batters without giving up a run.
BSC used two singles, a double and a sac fly in their half of the third to take a 2-0 lead. That would be all the offense the Panthers would need as Crumpton allowed just two base runners in the final four innings. Williams picked up the loss, giving up just two runs on five hits in four innings.
Caitlin Adkins finished the final two innings, giving up just a hit while striking out two.
Offensively, Carder led the way with a pair of hits and a stolen base. Lipari had the only other hit for the Majors.
What's Next
After being away for almost a month, the Majors will be back at home this week for four games. They'll welcome MUW to Jackson on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch of the DH is scheduled for 5pm.
