MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- On Sunday, the Millsaps College baseball team returned to William R. Bowdoin Field on the campus of Berry College to wrap up their weekend Southern Athletic Association (SAA) series with the Vikings.
The Majors took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, but Berry scored the next 11 runs of the game unanswered to pick up the 11-1 run rule win.
The loss drops Millsaps to 6-25 overall on the year. They are 2-12 in SAA play. The Vikings improve to 23-9 overall and 11-4 in league play.
How It Happened
Brennan Ducote got the offense going in the top of the 1st inning with a one-out single. He stole second base, and advanced to third on a
Mason Little infield single. Later in the inning, with
Jackson Hailey at the plate, Ducote came home to score on a passed ball to give the Majors a 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately, Berry quickly took control of the game in the bottom half of the inning. They scored three runs in the 1st to take a 3-1 lead they never relinquished.
The Vikings added a run in the 4th, five more in the 5th and capped off the scoring with two runs in the 6th. Their pitching staff limited the Millsaps offense to just three hits over the final six innings to secure the 11-1 win.
Key Contributors
Ductoe paced the offense with a pair of hits on the afternoon. Little,
