IRVING, Texas. -- On Friday, the Millsaps College volleyball team traveled out west to Texas to continue their 2019 campaign. The Majors took part in the 2019 University of Dallas Invitational where they played matches against Alfred University and Schreiner University.

In the first match the Majors started off hot against AU, but the Saxons fought back to push the game to a fourth set. Millsaps maintained composure as they dominated the last set to win 3-1. Despite the strong efforts from the Mountaineers, the game would be decided in three sets as the Majors picked up their second win of the day.

Game 1
The UD Invitational would start off similarly to that of the Millsaps/Belhaven Invitational, with the Majors controlling the court.

The seniors, Erica Bennett and McKenzi Petricko, lead the team with 13 kills each, while Morgan Vincent, adding nine kills to the team's total of 50, notched four blocks. Katelyn Thomas, along side Mary Tebbe, contributed 39 assists to the Majors attack.

Convincingly, the Majors' defense recorded 57 digs to top the Saxons 3-1.

Game 2
Payton Passantino put up 16 digs, helping the Millsaps' defense edge out the Mountaineers strong serves. Tebbe continued to perform well, leading the squad with 20 assists, including 12 digs. Although they did not record an ace, the Majors edged out each set.

Additionally, Millsaps accumulated a hitting percentage of .336, taking down SU 3-0.

What's Next?
Millsaps continues their time in Irving tomorrow for day two of the invitational. The Majors start the day off with a match at 12:00 p.m. against McMurry University. They will wrap up their time out west with a 4:00 p.m. contest against the host, UD.
