IRVING, Texas. -- On Saturday, the Millsaps College volleyball team dominated in the final day of the University of Dallas Invitational. The Majors appeared in matches with McMurry University and the host, UD.
Millsaps won a well fought game in five sets against the War Hawks. The Majors went on to pick up their eighth straight win as they took down UD 3-0.
Game 1
After falling behind in the first set, the Majors offense would rally behind McKenzie Petricko and her 17 kills, evening the score 1-1. The Majors defense came alive as
Payton Passantino recorded 23 digs while
Emily Herring posted five blocks, edging out McMurry in the third set.
Katelyn Thomas assisted in 31 successful attacks, giving the Majors an extra push to take the lead. Thomas also put up 17 digs, but the War Hawks still found a way to send the match into a fifth set.
Additionally,
Morgan Vincent played a huge roll as she picked up three of her 11 kills in the final set, leading Millsaps to a 20-18 win in a nail-biter.

Game 2
Erica Bennett started the second contest of the day with 12 kills. Meanwhille, Thomas led the team in digs with 11, giving the Majors a chance to finish the weekend undefeated. Millasps' defense continued to control the momentum of the game as
Bre Reed contributed six blocks.
Notably, Herring showed out against the home team, boasting seven blocks and shutting out UD in three sets.

What's Next?
Millsaps will continue their slate of away games in Georgia next Saturday. The Majors will open SAA play against Berry, with a match against Covenant before facing Oglethorpe on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. CT. Saturday's start times are set for 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. CT respectively.
