JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College men's soccer team made the short drive down Riverside Drive Saturday afternoon for the annual matchup with rival Belhaven University.
The match was scoreless at halftime, but a Blazer goal in the 65th minute proved to be the difference in their 1-0 win.
The loss drops Millsaps to 3-1 on the season while Belhaven improves to 4-0.
How It Happened
The two teams played a very evenly matched contest in the opening 45 minutes.
The Majors edged Belhaven 2-1 in corner kicks, but the Blazers led the shot count 3-2.
The best Millsaps scoring opportunity came on a shot by
Luca Kistner in the 23rd minute, unfortunately the Belhaven keeper was there for the save.
The Majors also had the first look at goal in the second half, but
Jeff Bruni's shot was saved.
Less than two minutes later the Blazers countered and were able to break through for the game's only goal.
Milsaps had a pair of chances late off the foot of
Brett Judd but were not able to find the back of the net.
