BOSSIER CITY, La. -- The Millsaps College men's soccer team took on the East Texas Baptist University Tigers in a match that was played in Louisiana due to weather.
The Majors came from behind two separate times, regaining the lead for the final time in the 63rd minute to pick up the 3-2 win.
Millsaps improves to 4-2 overall on the season while ETBU falls to 1-5.
How It Happened
Both teams started slow, and it looked like the game would be scoreless at halftime. Unfortunately, the Tigers had other plans as they broke through for the game's first goal in the 44th minute.
After the break the Majors quickly responded. In the 50th minute
Matthew Reed capitalized on a ball from
Brett Judd to tie the game at 1-1.
The Tigers answered back with a goal five minutes later, but it was all Millsaps down the stretch.
Jeff Bruni scored on an assist by
Gabriel Ryce in the 62nd minute, and less than two minutes later Ryce scored a goal of his own which proved to be the game-winner.
The defense held off the final Tiger attacks to secure the 3-2 victory.
Notable
This is the first time in 2019 that three separate Majors have found the back of the net. On the season six different players have now scored for Millsaps.
