Men's Tennis Competes at ITA South Regional

ROME, Ga. -- The Millsaps College men's tennis team traveled to Georgia this weekend for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Regional Championships.

Taking on some of the best talent that the Atlantic South Region has to offer, the Majors had several strong showings. 

Men's Singles Flight A
John Kimball won his first round matchup in the main draw against Rhodes College. Trailing with the match at 3-6, 6-5, he won 14 of the next 15 points to win the third set tiebreaker 10-1.

Jacob Niehaus captured three victories in the back draw including a 6-0, 3-6, 10-6 win over Covenant. He advanced all of the way to the consolation finals. 

After dropping a tough first round matchup to Berry, Brandon Beck bounced back in a match against Piedmont 6-0, 6-2. 

Men's Singles Flight B
Alex Gardiner ran off three consecutive wins to make it into the consolation final. 

Men's Doubles A Flight
Trevor Vacarro made his collegiate debut by winning his first round match with his Niehaus as his partner. 

Men's Doubles B Flight
Gardiner partnered with Benjamin Falk to advance to the quarterfinals before losing to SAA rival Sewanee.

Grayson Godbold and Owen Stovall teamed up to advance into the quarterfinal round before being ousted by Emory.
