JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College men's soccer team wrapped up the non-conference portion of their 2019 schedule on Tuesday night.

The Majors welcomed NCAA Division II Delta State University to Harper Davis Field. 

The visiting Statesmen scored a pair of goals in both halves to come away with the 4-0 win. 

The loss drops the Majors to 4-4 overall on the year. Delta State improves to 3-1.

How It Happened
For the opening 25 minutes of the match both teams struggled to get much going offensively. The Majors defense, anchored by Alfie Miller in goal, was able to turn away several Delta State chances. 

Unfortunately the Statesmen struck first with a penalty kick goal in the 27th minute. They added to their lead with a goal in the 38th minute to take a 2-0 advantage to the halftime locker room. 

Goals in the 76th and 86th minute helped secure the win for the Statesmen. 

What's Next? 
The Majors begin Southern Athletic Association play this weekend by traveling to Rhodes on Friday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
