JACKSON, Miss. -- After posting an even 4-4 record in the non-conference portion of their season, the Millsaps College men's soccer team shifts its focus to Southern Athletic Association play this weekend.
The Majors will travel to Memphis, Tennessee tomorrow for a match with the Lynx of Rhodes College.
Last Time Out
On Tuesday night the Majors welcomed NCAA Division II Delta State University to Harper Davis Field. For the opening 25 minutes of the match both teams struggled to get much going offensively. The Majors defense, anchored by
Alfie Miller in goal, was able to turn away several Delta State chances.
Unfortunately, the visiting Statesmen broke through to score a pair of goals in both halves to come away with the 4-0 win.
Friday: Rhodes College (2-5-1, 0-0 SAA), 3:00 p.m., Memphis, Tennessee
The Lynx come into Friday's matchup off of four consecutive losses. Their last win came back on September 8 when they topped North Central College 2-1 in double overtime.
Key Players for the Lynx
Sophomore Travis Tuerff leads the offensive attack for Rhodes. He has scored four of the team's eight goals. The remaining goals are spread out between four different players.
Junior Ben Tang is tied for second on the team in points. He has totaled two assists this season.
Defensively, senior Will Birka-White has played the majority of the minutes in goal. He has allowed nine goals in four games played.
