JACKSON, Miss. – It was a solid day all around for the Millsaps volleyball team, they were able to bounce back from Saturday's tough loss and won in four sets over Rhodes College Sunday afternoon (25-19, 25-15, 23-25, 25-16).
How It Happened
The first set was evenly matched, going back-and-forth until
Erica Bennett put up four kills to push the Majors ahead 22-13.
Payton Passantino really caught fire in the second set, serving three aces and leading the defense with 16 digs.
A strong third set from
Bre Reed included four of her nine kills, but the Lynx were connecting all over the court, forcing the match to four sets. Reed stepped up again, this time in the form of blocks, totaling a team high of 8, and mollifying the Majors in the final set. Millsaps improved to 11-7 after dominating the match with 12 blocks and 45 kills to win 3-1.
Senior,
Morgan Vincent, added four blocks and 15 digs defensively.
Katelyn Thomas offered up 25 assists, while McKenzie Petricko led the team in kills with 14.
What's Next?
The Majors will head out to Tennessee on Saturday for a match against Sewanee before facing Centre on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. CT. Saturday's start time is set for 11:00 a.m.
