JACKSON, Miss. -- On Wednesday, the Millsaps College women's soccer team battled the Ladies of Centenary College at home. The Ladies hot start in the second-half would prove to be enough to win 5-2.
The Majors fall to 1-2 while Centenary improves to 3-0 on the season.
How It Happened
1st Half
Millsaps would strike first as
Mary Ranager offered up a fantastic ball for
Hannah Johnson to put it away. Unfortunately, Millsaps was soon charged with a foul inside the box. Centenary was able to take advantage of the opportunity, putting away the penalty kick to even the score.
Notably,
Madison Milano continued to stay strong inside the goal, recording five saves, keeping Centenary out of the net for the remainder of the first half.
The score stood tied at 1-1 at the halftime break.
2nd Half
Centenary resumed play with four unanswered goals to move ahead 5-1.
The Majors took advantage of a corner kick opportunity late in the match. After earning the corner,
Riley Fobare corralled the loose ball and lofted it in the air for
Emma Dotson to finish with the header.
Unfortunately, the Ladies half-time adjustments would be the difference in the game, giving Centenary the 5-2 win.
What's Next?
Millsaps will be right back at home on Saturday as they take on the Wildcats of Louisiana College. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
