JACKSON, Miss. -- On Saturday, the Millsaps College women's soccer team took on the Wildcats of Louisiana College.
The Majors applied consistent pressure off of nine corner kicks en route to down Louisiana 4-1.
How It Happened
1st Half
Millsaps set the tone early as
Alexi Martinez introduced a ball to the back of the net in the first nine minutes of the match.
Riley Fobare and
Josie McReynolds proceeded with the pace, forcing multiple shots on goal. Eventually, McReynolds capitalized on an offsides call against the Wildcats, scoring the first goal of her career to lead 2-0.
Defensively,
Madison Milano accumulated three saves off of seven first-half shots from Louisiana, bringing her season total to 12 (2nd in the SAA).
2nd Half
An unforeseen goal from Louisiana pushed the defense of Millsaps to stand strong, preventing the Wildcats from taking any further shots in the contest.
A corner from Martinez, placed
Riley Ely in position to assist
Hannah Johnson on her second goal of the year, extending the lead back to two. The Majors offense had no intention of slowing down as
Mary Ranager put the game away on a penalty kick with 15 minutes remaining, closing the door to a commanding 4-1 victory.
Notably, the Majors would attack with force, providing 20 shots in the convincing 4-1 win.
What's Next?
