MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- On Sunday, the Millsaps College women's basketball team wrapped up the weekend with a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup against the Vikings of Berry College. 

The Viking defense kept Millsaps off balance for most of the afternoon, especially down the stretch en route to a 51-28 win. 

The loss drops the Majors to 8-10 overall and 2-5 in the SAA. Berry improves to 10-8 overall and 4-3 in the league. 

How It Happened
Andrea Rayford got things going with a three-point play to open up the scoring. Later on, Millasps stretched their lead out to 7-4 midway through the opening quarter on a three-pointer by Rayford.

Unfortunately the Vikings outscored the Majors 11-2 over the next five minutes to grab a 15-9 lead after the opening quarter. 

The teams exchanged three-point baskets at the beginning of the second quarter, but as the quarter wore on the Vikings were able to stretch their lead out 28-14 at the halftime break. 

After some adjustments in the locker room Millsaps used an advantage underneath the basket to get their offense going. The Majors scored eight points in the paint in the third quarter, and also did a good job of getting to the free throw line. 

Unfortunately, helped by four three-pointers in the period, Berry was able to keep pace with Millsaps, and hold tight to a 43-28 advantage. 

The Vikings blanked the Majors in the final quarter to secure the 51-28 win. 

Notables
Rayford finished with a team-high eight points. Freshman Mikenzi Laster added six on 2-3 shooting from the field. 

What's Next?
After spending back to back weekends away from Jackson, the Majors return to the Hangar Dome this weekend for a pair of SAA contests against Oglethorpe and Berry. Friday's tip off against the Stormy Petrels is set for 6:00 p.m.
