JACKSON, Miss. – On Friday, the Millsaps College football program announced the release of its 2020 schedule.
The Majors will take the field this fall under the direction of new head coach
Isaac Carter. Carter replaces former head coach
Aaron Pelch, who in January 2020 was named as the director of athletics for Millsaps.
Millsaps will face a ten-game schedule that features the eight Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contests and two non-conference matchups.
As has become customary, the Majors open up the season under the lights on Thursday, September 3 with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff in the Riverside Rumble against cross-town rival Belhaven University. The Blazers will host this year's matchup. Last season Millsaps kept possession of Belhaven's sword with a 28-14 win.
Week two is the home opener for Millsaps. The Majors welcome Southwestern Assemblies of God University to Harper Davis Field.
From there the schedule shifts to SAA play as the Majors open up the conference slate at home with a game against Austin College on September 19.
Millsaps will also play Berry College, Birmingham Southern College and Sewanee at home this season. Additionally, the schedule is highlighted by the homecoming festivities on the weekend of October 16-18. The game against Birmingham Southern will be played on Saturday, October 17.
Trips to Centre College, Rhodes College, Hendrix College and a bye-week before the final game at Trinity University, round out the 2020 schedule for Millsaps.
"I am very excited about the 2020 season," said Coach Carter. "We feel like we have some pieces in place to be very competitive within our conference. I like the leadership within our team, and we are doing a good job of finding ways during this time of being apart, to still get better as a team. With this season being my first at Millsaps College and as a head coach, I think it is fitting to be going through the adversity we are all facing right now. I believe it will make us stronger as a team, make me stronger as a head coach, and hopefully make us stronger as a country."
Season ticket information for all five home games will be announced this summer.
