JACKSON, Miss.– A flurry of threes by the Berry Vikings were enough to spoil the home debut for the Millsaps men's basketball team, falling 73-40 inside the Hangar Dome on Friday.
Millsaps (1-2, 1-2 SAA) was unable to get into a groove offensively, scoring only 17 points in the first half. Looking to turn their fortunes around, the Majors eyed a second-half comeback to turn their halftime deficit around. After trading baskets to begin the second half, Berry (1-0, 1-0 SAA) was able to enlarge its lead with six 3-pointers from sophomore Drew Jones (21 points).
Scoring double digits for the third time in as many games this season, Millsaps freshman
Cameron Williams (13 points, seven rebounds) had another standout performance in the defeat. The Vikings (1-0, 1-0 SAA) had three players score in double figures. Vikings' big man, Austin Brooks, also had a dominant performance, finishing with 12 points, four rebounds, and five assists.
The Majors return back to action Saturday at 1 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader. Live stats and video links will be made available for fans at home.
