ROME, Ga. – In a game where the final score did not accurately represent how close the game was, the Millsaps men's soccer team was downed by Berry College, 5-0 on Sunday.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Wilkins Dowdy posted seven saves at Bob Pearson Field. The Vikings scored four goals in the final 11 minutes of the match.
Berry (9-3-2, 3-1-2 SAA) proved to be the more aggressive team on offense, outshooting the Majors 23-5 as well as 12-3 for shots on goal.
The Vikings' first goal came on a header from a corner kick in the 14th minute.
The Majors' best opportunity to score came in the final minute of the first half when a shot from senior
Sergey Kolesnik barely sailed wide right, keeping the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.
With both teams looking for the crucial next score, Berry exploded for four goals late in the match and secure a 5-0 victory.
