ROME, Ga. – Millsaps women's soccer senior goalkeeper
Maddie Moore and the Major defense held strong late into their match on Sunday. Berry College scored late to claim a 1-0 win at Bob Pearson Field.
Moore posted a season-high tying 10 saves, while the Majors added a pair of team stops. The Lafayette, La., native recorded a six save shutout in a 1-0 win at Oglethorpe on Friday.
Berry (9-5, 4-2 SAA) was the aggressor offensively for much of the match, outshooting the Majors, 33-2. Millsaps (2-9-1, 1-5-0 SAA) stood tall on defense on Sunday.
The Majors' lone shot on goal came in the 55th minute when senior forward
Mary Ranager fired a laser to the lower left corner of the goal that was stopped.
As both teams jockeyed for the lead, the Vikings seemed to have broken the tie with a goal in the 84th minute. The referee then blew his whistle to call offsides to keep the match scoreless.
Berry would finally find the back of the net on a header to the back post off a corner kick in the 87th minute.
Millsaps will return to Harper Davis Field for Senior Night, hosting Birmingham-Southern next Saturday. Opening kick for the regular season finale is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT with senior festivities commencing at 4 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at gomajors.com.
