ATLANTA – For the second time this season, Millsaps women's soccer senior goalkeeper
Maddie Moore was named the Southern Athletic Association Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Moore was instrumental in powering the Majors to a victory at Oglethorpe on Friday and kept Millsaps alive late into Sunday's match at Berry College.
She posted her second career clean sheet, while tallying six saves and orchestrating six successful corner kick defenses in a 1-0 triumph on Friday. She followed that performance with a season-high tying 10 saves in a 1-0 loss on Sunday. The Biology major successfully defended 10 of 11 corner kicks against the offensively dangerous Vikings.
Monday marked the second time this season the Lafayette, La., native garnered Player of the Week status. She also was recognized following a 3-1 victory at LaGrange College on Sept. 19 where she stopped eight of nine on-target attempts.
Moore is the second Major within the women's soccer program to win multiple SAA Defensive Player of Weeks since
Alyssa McCarron did so in 2018 and the spring of 2021.
