ATLANTA – Millsaps women's soccer senior goalkeeper
Maddie Moore has been unbeatable this season and continues to post incredible numbers. On Monday, she made program history by becoming the first Major to be named the Southern Athletic Association Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in a season and her career.
Moore posted a seven-save shutout and successfully defended six corner kicks in a 1-0 victory during Senior Night on Saturday. The Majors defeated Birmingham-Southern and Moore has now tallied two clean sheets in her last three matches and has only allowed one goal over the last 314 minutes and eight seconds of action.
In 10 matches the Biology major has won three matches, owns a 2.20 goals-against average, 0.758 save percentage and has stopped 69 shots.
Moore was named the SAA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 18 following one goal allowed combined against Oglethorpe and Berry. She also secured the honor on Sept. 19 following a 3-1 victory at LaGrange College.
The Majors began play in the SAA during the 2012 season and were members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference before that.
Millsaps enters the SAA Women's Soccer Championship as the No. 6 seed and will travel to No. 3 seed Berry. The match is scheduled for Saturday, with time to be announced later this week. Live stats and video will be made available at gomajors.com.
