JACKSON, Miss – The Millsaps volleyball team closed the regular season with their most dominant performance of the regular season with a 3-0 sweep of MUW on Senior Night. The Majors breezed past the Owls (25-11, 25-12, 25-18) inside the Hangar Dome on Friday.
On a night where she was celebrated as the lone Millsaps senior, middle hitter
Alyssa Jolly dominated with a game-high 12 kills to go along with 10 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter
Brenna Macaluso tallied five kills while leading the Majors with four blocks. Sophomore
Margaret Richardson shined as the setter with a game-high 23 assists, while sophomore
Alexia Ardoin led the team with 20 digs in her first match as the libero.
Leading 9-7, Millsaps (10-12, 4-10 SAA) a kill by Richardson sparked an 8-0 run to help claim a 25-11 win in set one.
Capped off with Macaluso kill, the Majors raced out to a 7-3 run in set two. The Majors would dominate the second set as well with a kill by Jolly to initiate a 5-1 surge to close the set.
Set three was more competitive with seven ties and four lead changes. With both teams knotted at 15-15 midway through, Millsaps would complete the sweep with a kill by sophomore middle hitter
Ashlyn Moore to add the finishing touches.
Millsaps will next travel to Rome, Ga to face an opponent to be determined for a SAA Quarterfinal matchup on Friday, Nov. 5. Live video and live stats will be provided at gomajors.com.
