CONWAY, Ark. – In a match that was rescheduled because of inclement weather, the Millsaps women's soccer team (1-6-1, 0-2 SAA) was defeated by Hendrix College (5-2-1, 2-0 SAA) by a score of 2-1. Junior defender
Josie McReynolds scored her first goal of the season at Warrior Field in the final minute on Sunday.
The Majors doubled the Warriors in shot attempts 18-9, but Hendrix had the advantage in shots on goal at 5-4.
Senior goalkeeper
Maddie Moore tallied three saves for the Majors.
The action was fast and furious from their start, with Hendrix striking the goal post on a shot and Millsaps senior midfielder
Hannah Johnson footing a laser that was barely saved in the first seven minutes of the match.
The Majors had another prime opportunity to score first when freshman
Camille Blanchard hit a curling ball with her right foot that dipped off the crossbar in the 10th minute.
Hendrix took advantage of a corner set piece in the 23rd minute and took a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
The Warriors would then start the half with a goal in the 49th minute to take control with a 2-0 lead.
Looking to inch closer, Millsaps connected with second remaining in the 90th minute on a goal from McReynolds with an assist given to senior
Mary Ranager.
Full time would soon arrive and the Majors would fall, 2-1 in the conference tussle.
The Majors host Centre College at Harper Davis Field next Friday, Oct. 8 as part of Homecoming Weekend. Opening kick is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with live stats and video available at gomajors.com.
