JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps College football's senior defensive back
Cade Broussard recorded four tackles and a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 49-7 loss to No. 22 Birmingham-Southern on Senior Day. Junior linebacker
Josh Smith led all players with a career-high 12 tackles while
Marquis Tenner recorded five stops and added a fumble recovery at Harper Davis Field on Saturday.
Junior running back
Montreal Felix was solid on the ground for Millsaps (2-8, 2-5 SAA) averaging five yards per carry.
Birmingham-Southern (9-1, 6-1 SAA) proved why they rank in the top 10 nationally in rushing yards, totaling 504 of their 552 yards on the ground.
Scoring touchdowns on four of their first five drives of the game, the Panthers raced out to a 28-0 lead.
With the Panthers marching down the field, Millsaps found a spark defensively when Broussard would pick off an overthrown out route and raced down the right sideline untouched for a 75-yard pick-six.
The Panthers would then respond with a seven-play, 65-yard touchdown drive to take a commanding 35-7 advantage into halftime.
BSC would tack on two more rushing tallies for insurance in the third quarter to secure the victory in the regular season finale.
