JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps men's basketball sophomore wing
Cameron Williams scored a game-high 21 points, including seven in overtime, but it was not enough as the Majors fell to Huntingdon College, 68-67 in the Millsaps College Tournament on Saturday. Freshman guard
Bryce Brown also reached double figures in scoring with 11 points inside the Hangar Dome.
In a game that featured four lead changes and four ties, Huntingdon remarkably led the Majors for nearly 40 of the 45 minutes.
Huntingdon (4-1) raced out to a 14-5 advantage at the first media timeout thanks to a trio of threes. Down 20-10 midway through the first half, Millsaps (2-3) utilized a 9-2 run to make it a three-point game heading into the under eight-minute timeout.
Sophomore

Seth Stephen hit a layup as time expired to give Millsaps their first lead at 37-36 as time expired in the first half.
Junior
Doug Watson hit a three to open up the scoring in the second half, but Huntingdon would use a 14-3 burst afterward to take a 50-43 lead with 11:50 remaining.
With the game remaining in striking distance, the Majors found themselves down 58-54 at the final media timeout with 3:20 left in the game.
Now with 34 seconds on the clock and Millsaps down by one,
Christian Evans was fouled on a shot attempt. He would proceed to split at the line and tie the game at 60-60. The Hawks would call timeout where they would draw up a play where a floater in the paint would fall short of the rim for a shot clock violation with 1.3 seconds remaining. Millsaps would proceed to inbounds the ball and a half-court shot by Evans would sail wide right to send the game into overtime.
Huntingdon scored the first five points of the extra period. Williams would proceed to cut the deficit to four points after splitting a pair of free throws with just over three minutes remaining.
After a failed conversion by the Hawks, Williams would then knock down two more free throws to cut Huntingdon's lead to 65-63. The Hawks would then turn the ball over which led to Williams scoring on a turn-around baseline jumper and tie the game with 1:58 left.
Huntingdon would reclaim the lead with a made free throw from a dead ball foul. Following a pair of offensive rebounds, the Majors finally got a stop with a block by
Seth Stephen. On the fast break, Rucker's layup attempt would be pinned on the backboard to keep the score at bay.
On the Hawks' next possession, Stephen would come up clutch with another block and Williams would be fouled immediately. The wing would connect on both free throws to give the Majors a one-point advantage with 35 seconds remaining.
Huntingdon would opt to go fast and be rewarded with a made layup with 24 seconds remaining. With Millsaps inbounding the ball with 3.4 seconds left, Huntingdon played tight defense to strip the ball away and escape with a 68-67 victory.
