MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Millsaps women's swimming and diving freshman
Kat Burns contributed to two school records in a dual meet at the University of Montevallo on Saturday. She was a member of the 200-yard medley relay and an individual in the 50-yard breaststroke at the SAC Natatorium.
The Majors finished competitively in the team competition against the NCAA Division II hosts with the men falling, 109-185 and the women edged, 124-187.
Alongside Burns in the women's 200-yard medley relay were
Chloee Beebe,
Ginny Ray Clevenger and
Madisyn Latino who tracked a winning and record time of 1:58.99. Later in the day, Burns would tack on one more accolade, finishing first in the 50-yard breaststroke in 33.42 seconds.
Individually, Clevenger (100-yard backstroke and 100-yard IM) both tallied top times in her respective events.
Although they did not break the school record like their women counterparts, the men's 200-yard medley relay quartet of
Breydon Conner,
Bryan Sullivan,
Cooper Clevenger and
Casey Miller placed first in the event with a time of 1:46.37.
Individually for the men, Sullivan placed first in three different events. He swam 24.17 in the 50-yard backstroke, 21.18 in the 50-yard freestyle and 22.31 in the 50-yard butterfly. Conner paced all swimmers in the 100-yard IM at 1:04.16.
The Majors will next travel to Conway, Ark. for a weekend contest against Hendrix in a two-day invitational on Dec. 3-4. The meet on Friday will begin at 6 pm and the meet on Saturday will commence at 11:30 am.
