ATLANTA – The awards continue to add up for the undefeated No. 12 Millsaps women's basketball team as senior guard
Taelor Manning has been recognized as the SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Manning was nothing short of spectacular in helping Millsaps (8-0, 7-0 SAA) down Rhodes, 63-54 on Saturday and remain in first place atop the SAA standings. The Memphis, Tenn., product scored a career-high 26 points on 9 of 18 shooting while sinking 8 of 9 free throws.
The 26 points tied the most scored by any player in the league over the weekend. In 39 minutes of end-to-end effort, Manning added seven rebounds, five steals and four assists.
This is the second time Manning has been dubbed SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She earned the honor on Feb. 17, 2020 after dropping 24 points to close out the regular season against Birmingham- Southern. Following the 2019-20 campaign, Manning was tabbed Honorable Mention All-SAA.
It also marks the second occasion this season a women's basketball Major has been recognized leaguewide. Senior guard
Dia Fortenberry was named Player of the Week on Feb. 1 following a two-game sweep of Centre.
Millsaps is next scheduled to travel to Oglethorpe (6-0, 6-0 SAA) for a pair of games, Friday and Saturday with first place on the line.
