ATLANTA – A total of four student-athletes from the Millsaps volleyball team were recognized for their accomplishments following the 2020 season by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) coaches on Monday.
Emily Herring,
Alyssa Jolly,
Brenna Macaluso and
Mary Tebbe were named All-SAA Honorable Mention, the league announced.
All four made the All-Conference team for the first time and were key contributors for the Majors who defeated eventual conference champion and then-No. 10 Birmingham-Southern on the road as well as Centre at home and Rhodes in back-to-back matches on Senior Day.
Herring, a senior middle blocker from Dacula, Georgia, was a force on the offensive and defensive side of the net. She finished third in the SAA with 0.87 blocks per set as well as sixth in hitting percentage at .252 percent (94 kills, 34 errors, 238 attempts).
Jolly, a junior middle blocker hailing from Haslet, Texas, was second on the team in both kills (106) and hitting percentage (.219 percent). Additionally, she was second in points with 126.5 and third with 25 blocks. She was also named SAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week on April 7 for dominant performances at Oglethorpe.
A freshman outside hitter from River Ridge, Louisiana, Macaluso led the Majors with 112 kills in 12 matches and points with 131.5. To top it off, she was tied for first with 12 aces and second with 140 digs.
The final Major to make the Honorable Mention team was Tebbe. A sophomore setter from Metairie, Louisiana, her jaw-dropping 8.4 assists per set were third best in the SAA. Tebbe totaled 382 helpers and added 114 digs, third most on the team.
