AUSTIN, Texas – Millsaps football graduate defensive stalwarts
Christian Roberts and
Liam Vincifora were named by the College Sports Information Directors of America to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® Football Team on Thursday.
The 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Football Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams include student-athletes divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot, with First and Second Team Academic All-America® honorees announced in mid-July.
Roberts ended the spring tied atop the Southern Athletic Association with 26 solo stops in four games and was named to the conference's Second Team. He was also Millsaps' 2020 C Spire Conerly Trophy nominee, while also providing a team-best three breakups, seven assisted tackles, including 2.5 TFLs, a blocked kick and fumble recovery.
A Business Administration degree recipient with a Minor in Entrepreneurship, Roberts maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.57.
Additionally, he was a part of the 2021 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, a member of the Dean's List and was active with Kappa Sigma on campus. Roberts was also a three-time member of the SAA Academic Honor Roll.
In 33 career games, he made 24 career starts. He totaled an eye-popping 114 solo tackles and added 57 assisted stops. A true ballhawk in the backfield, Roberts tallied 19 pass breakups, including four interceptions.
Vincifora finished his decorated Major career as a First Team All-SAA selection in 2018 and 2019 and Second Team honoree as a senior.
In 2019, he was also named the SAA Defensive Player of the Year, was a D3Football.com Third Team All-American and both a Cliff Harris Award and C Spire Conerly Trophy nominee.
In 2021, Vincifora was tied for third in the SAA with 34 total tackles, including tied for second with three sacks in four games. He added 19 solo stops, 5.0 TFLs and four quarterback hurries as a senior.
His career totals were equally impressive. He played in all 34 games for the Majors over four seasons, with 21 starts. Vincifora totaled 89 solo tackles, 64 assisted tackles and incredibly 24.5 sacks. He was a dual threat with 42 TFLs and six career pass breakups.
He received his degree in Business with a concentration in Finance, while maintaining a 3.42 cumulative GPA. Vincifora was also active with Kappa Sigma and a three-time member of the SAA Academic Honor Roll.
