JACKSON, Miss. – A new yet familiar face is entrusted with leading the Millsaps men's and women's golf programs this season. Michael Fluty, a PGA member with 24 years of coaching and professional experience, is set to lead several returners and new incoming talent.

Fluty, who is the Millsaps Director of Golf, spent the prior 17 seasons as head women's golf coach at NCAA Division I McNeese State in nearby Lake Charles, Louisiana.

While at McNeese State, he coached 15 All-Southland Conference selections. He also instructed two Southland Conference Players of the Year and one Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year. Additionally, Fluty's teams combined for seven tournament wins, six second-place finishes and 40 top-five performances.

Prior to McNeese State, Fluty spent eight years guiding as the men's and women's golf coach at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. During his tenure, his programs combined for three NAIA National Tournament appearances and secured three NAIA Region IV titles. He was also named the NAIA Region IV Coach of the Year twice (2002, 2003). The squads also totaled two conference championships, featured two NAIA All-Americans and five NAIA Scholar All-Americans.
 
Fluty will look to improve six returning Majors on the men's team and welcome in four freshmen. The women's team sees all three members from the spring back to compete with four newcomers.

Returning for the men's program are juniors Gabe Brooks, Andrew Lovejoy, Charlie Ellery and Krtin Udith along with sophomores Sam Harrell and Harrison Rhymes.

Brooks posted the lowest Millsaps score in three of five matches in the spring. He finished tied for 27th at the Pinecrest Invitational, tied for 23rd at the Wolf Pack Invitational and posted an outstanding tie for 13th at the Rhodes Spring Classic, firing a three-round score of 11-over.

Lovejoy was the best performer in the other two competitions the Majors played in. He was tied for 11th at the Dancing Rabbit Intercollegiate with a three-round score of 4-over. Lovejoy then powered the team with a 20th-place showing at the SAA Golf Championships, going 16-over for three rounds.
 
Ellery's best finish came at the Wolf Pack Invitational when he ended in a tie for 35th, recording a two-round score of 17-over. Udith was particularly strong at the Dancing Rabbit Intercollegiate when he totaled a three-round score of 12-over, placing him tied for 34th overall.

Rhymes competed in all five competitions, finishing best at Dancing Rabbit with a three-round total of 20-over. Fellow classmate Harrell gained some valuable experience by competing in the final two events of the spring.

On the women's side, junior Kati Albright finished as the top Major in all five contests. Her best was a tie for 12th at the Carey Collegiate Classic where she finished 28-over after two rounds.

Senior Lindsey Gordon was right behind with her best performance in the same classic, finishing 16th with a two-round score of 39-over. Graduate student Sarah Pehler, a former Millsaps volleyball player, completed the women's squad in the spring and successfully made the transition between the two sports.

The following lists the complete fall schedules for both the Millsaps men's and women's golf programs. Spring schedules will be announced at a later date.
