JACKSON, Miss. — A late second-half goal downed the Millsaps women's soccer team (1-5-1, 0-1 SAA) against Rhodes College (4-1-1, 1-0 SAA) at Harper Davis Field on Friday. Senior goalkeeper Maddie Moore posted four saves in a 1-0 defeat.

Outshooting Millsaps 14-4, the Lynx were the primary aggressors offensively throughout the game. However, the Majors held the game much closer with only 5-3 shots on-target disadvantage.

Highlighted with a fingertip save from Moore that then clipped the crossbar, the Majors stood tall defensively with a clean sheet in the first half.

Both teams were at a standstill until the 74th minute when Rhodes broke free with a set piece goal from a free kick that ended in the bottom-left side of the goal.

A red card issued to the Majors in the 83rd minute would put Millsaps down to 10 players and proved too much to come back from in a 1-0 defeat.

The Majors will travel to Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. next Saturday, Oct. 2. Opening kick is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. with live stats and video available at gomajors.com.
