JACKSON, Miss – The Millsaps men's soccer team defeated the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday. Senior forward
Sergey Kolesnik netted his first career hat trick in an exhibition at Harper Davis Field.
The Majors were the primary aggressor for the majority of the game owning most of the possession. They also were the more aggressive team offensively, outshooting the Wolves 27-11, including 11-2 for shots on goal.
Co-Lin got off to a hot start with an early goal in the ninth minute.
The Majors would answer with a strike in the 18th minute when
Ruben Hamann would connect with
Ethan Brunet on a beautiful free kick set piece to tie the game.
The Majors would then take their first lead of the match when Hamann tallied his second assist on a pass to Kolesnik who then struck the bottom right corner of the net for a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute.
The Majors would strike again via a counter attack when
Christopher Bruni would pass the ball to a streaking Kolesnik down the left side of the field for a tap-in and a 3-1 advantage in the 61st minute.
Kolesnik netted the third goal of his hat trick off a stolen pass in the 64th minute and then celebrated his accomplishment by running by the home town crowd.
Millsaps remained stout on defense as they held on for the 4-1 victory.
The Majors will resume conference play at Hendrix College this Saturday, Oct. 2. Opening kick is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with live stats and video available at gomajors.com.
