JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps volleyball team dug deep and played a gem of a match on Senior Day, downing Oglethorpe (25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22) inside the Hangar Dome on Saturday. Millsaps honored graduate
Alyssa Jolly along with seniors
Regan Cooper,
Hannah Mattke,
Bre Reed and
Chayton Willis prior to the match.

Millsaps and Oglethorpe played an impressively even match with 34 ties and 18 lead changes. The Majors tallied three more blocks in the contest (7-4) as well.
Trailing 12-6 in the opening set, Millsaps used a timeout to recalibrate. The timeout propelled the Major to an 8-0 run to give the Majors a two-point lead.
A service error would cut the Major advantage to 14-13, but Millsaps would then close the set on an 11-4 burst, which began with a Macaluso kill. An Oglethorpe attack error gave Millsaps a 25-17 win and 1-0 match lead.
The second set featured very little breathing room as Millsaps only led by five points late. Oglethorpe's last lead came at 11-10, but the Majors were up to the task. Millsaps methodically built an edge the remainder of set two. Macaluso and Reed used kills to close the set at 25-20 in favor of the Majors to build a 2-0 cushion.
Set three featured the closest action with 14 ties, 10 lead changes and saw no team leading by more than two points at any point. The Majors' last two-point lead of the set came at 19-17. Oglethorpe would respond with a 4-0 run in hopes of recovering in the match.
A Jolly kill would cut into the Oglethorpe at 21-20, but both teams would trade service and attack errors to close the third. The Stormy Petrels would claim the set, 25-23.
The fourth and final set was nearly as competitive with 13 ties and four lead changes. Oglethorpe's last advantage arose at 21-20. A service error and Capezzera kill would give Millsaps the lead once more.
Elder and Macaluso then teamed up on a block to push it to a 23-21 edge. The Stormy Petrels would earn another point before a Macaluso kill and Elder ace sent the Major fans into a roaring ovation as Millsaps claimed set four and the match, 25-22.
The fans also gave the Majors a huge boost on the court the match by shouting, "Let's go Majors!" throughout.
