GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Millsaps men's golf program finished the fall calendar strong at the William Carey Gulf Shores Invitational on Tuesday. A trio of Majors finished in the top 20 as Millsaps placed tied for third as a team at the Peninsula Golf Club.
Spring Hill College won the event at plus-32 for two rounds, while Blue Mountain College was second at plus-41. Millsaps was only 14 strokes back (314-308—622) at plus-46 and tied with host William Carey.
Senior
Andrew Lovejoy, sophomore
Will Danielson and senior
Gabe Brooks all posted top-20 performances.
Lovejoy ended Round 1 with a 73 and was tied for first place. He ended the tournament at plus-9 and tied for seventh.
Danielson climbed up the leaderboard and played fairly consistent with an 11th-place finish at plus-11 (79-76—155). Not far behind in a tie for 19th was Brooks who carded a plus-14 (83-75—158).
Senior
Krtin Udith fired a strong 77 in Round 2 to finish at plus-18 and tied for 30th. Also competing and concluding seven strokes back was junior
Harrison Rhymes (38th). Additionally, sophomore
Thomas Arensberg completed his first collegiate competition and finished in 44th.
Millsaps will return to competition in the spring at the DIII Lidlifter in Kingwood, Texas. The event will be held March 6-7 at the Clubs of Kingwood.
