JACKSON, Miss. – A late-inning comeback effort was not enough as the Millsaps baseball team fell to LaGrange College, 10-3 in the home opener at Twenty Field on Friday night.

The Panthers pounced on Millsaps (2-2) early, scoring the game's opening eight runs through their first four innings and only yielded two hits through the first six frames.
Fifth-year infielder Mason Little scored twice to go along with one hit and one walk. Senior outfielder Mark Petkovsek Jr. had a solid outing at the plate with two hits.

Millsaps got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Case Page was walked with the bases loaded to score Little. In the next inning, Millsaps executed a field gem with a beautiful 6-4-3 double play to get out of the top of the fifth.

Adding insurance, the Panthers knocked in one more run in the sixth to claim a 9-1 advantage. After giving up another run in the top of the eighth inning, the Majors were able to keep the damage at a minimum when senior third baseman Chris Hart made back-to-back diving plays.

Trying to inch their way back into the game, junior outfielder Sam Pitre scored from third on a passed ball. On the next pitch, freshman outfielder Bradley Pelle connected on an infield hit towards the shortstop to bring in Little for the final score of 10-3.
