MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The visiting Millsaps men's basketball team fell in an 80-58 decision in the SAA Tournament Quarterfinal to No. 23 Berry College. Junior guard
Doug Watson tallied a game-high 19 points against the conference's top seed inside the Cage Center on Sunday.
Millsaps (4-20) outscored the Vikings 32-28 in the paint and produced a 9-2 advantage in points off turnovers. Both teams were disciplined with the ball only turning it over six times each. Berry (21-2) did a great job distributing the ball, winning the assist margin, 16-6.
With Berry leading 9-6, the Vikings utilized a 16-5 run to take control of the game midway through the first half.
Berry would capitalize on their offensive efficiency, shooting over 54 percent from the field and take a 48-20 lead into the intermission.
The Vikings would then build on the momentum as they started the second half on a 13-3 run. Their lead would grow to as large as 72-28. The Majors would fight all the way to the end as they ended the game on a 30-8 run, but Berry would hold on to an 80-58 victory.
