PEARL, Miss. – The Millsaps baseball team was upended by the Belhaven Blazers by a score of 5-3 in game two of the Cowboy Maloney Series.
Sam Pitre and
Avery Brock tallied two hits each inside Trustmark Park on Tuesday.
Both defenses were strong as the first run did not come until the bottom of third inning when Belhaven scored on a bases-loaded walk. The Blazers would then add two runs in the sixth and one run in the seventh to jump out to a 4-0 advantage.
Millsaps (13-13) got on the board in the top of the eighth inning when a
Jackson Ware RBI-single brought
Austin Arceneaux home. Millsaps would strike again when Brock blasted an RBI-double to left centerfield to assist
Branyan Bounds home for a 4-2 score.
Belhaven (13-10) added insurance in the bottom of the eighth by scoring a run to take a three-score advantage into the final inning.
Down to their last out, then Majors found life as Pitre scored following a leadoff double when the Blazers' left fielder dropped the fly ball from
David Abadessa. Belhaven would hold on with a fly out to end the game.
Millsaps will now resume SAA action as they travel to Atlanta to take on Oglethorpe University for a three-game series starting on Saturday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. CT with live video and live stats available on gomajors.com.
