JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps sophomore outfielder
Molli Perry was outstanding with three hits, two runs and one RBI in the Majors' 5-4, game-three win to secure the SAA series victory over the No. 12 Berry Vikings.
Amber Clark had two hits while
Kat Reeves tallied two runs inside the Millsaps College Softball Complex on Sunday.
The Majors struck first with an infield RBI-single by
Emily Cook to score Perry.
Berry tied the game in the top of the second, but Millsaps answered in the bottom of the inning, with a bases-loaded, RBI-single by Perry to send Clark home. At the next at-bat, Reeves would assist
Magen Authement across home plate with an infield sac for a 3-1 lead.
In the top of the third inning, Berry surged ahead for a 4-3 advantage with three runs scored after a leadoff double and back-to-back home runs.
Millsaps would immediately knot the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth when Reeves caught the outfield creeping in and hit an RBI-triple to the centerfield fence to help the swift Perry score from first.
Millsaps would then reclaim the lead when
Katie Norris notched an pinch hit, RBI-single with the bases loaded.
With the Vikings down to their last three outs,
Alli Nolen produced a web gem as she sprinted to make an amazing catch in foul territory for the first out. Berry would get two runners in scoring position before Norris would seal the deal by tracking down two consecutive fly balls to secure the 5-4 victory and series win.
