JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps women's tennis program downed Birmingham-Southern, 7-1 in a convincing match at the Coach Montgomery Courts on Friday. On the men's side, the Panthers bested the Majors by a 7-2 score.
Each team will next compete at home against Rhodes on Saturday, April 23 with a 10 a.m. start for the men and 1 p.m. start for the women.
Women's Recap: W, 7-1
Doubles dominated with a clean sweep of Courts 1 through 3. The pairing of Morris Kelly Clayton and Camille Fremaux made quick work with an 8-2 decision. On Court 2, Marissa Brown and Kiana Everhart got by their opponent, 8-5 and Mary Dabadie and Madison Williams closed out the sweep with an 8-3 winner.
In singles action, SAA Singles Player of the Week Fremaux fared well on Court 2 (7-5, 6-1). Both Clayton (6-1, 6-1) and Williams (6-0, 6-2) were nearly unstoppable on Courts 5 and 6. Brown also earned a 6-1, 5-1 decision that was declared a win as rain ended the match early. Dabadie's match was tied 2-2 in the second set as the match was called.

The Majors pulled off a regionally ranked win on Court 1 doubles, Trevor Vaccaro and Hamilton Jackson claimed a 6-3 advantage, but ultimately fell 7-2 in a tiebreak. Jakub Bobinski / John Kimball and Kells Hecht / Brady St. Martin fell 8-3 and 8-2, respectively.
On Court 3 singles, Hamilton Jackson recovered after dropping set one, 6-4. He would force a tiebreak with a 7-5 winner and take the final set with a 10-8 battle. Junior classmate Kells Hecht was also victorious on Court 5, dominating 6-2, 6-2. Jackson won his third consecutive singles match, while Hecht earned his second straight win.
Both John Kimball (Court 1) and Trevor Vaccaro (Court 2) forced third sets, but fell 10-8 and 10-7 in narrow tiebreakers, respectively.
