BRASELTON, Ga. – The Millsaps men's and women's golf programs produced a competitive Round One at the 2022 SAA Golf Championships at the Château Élan Golf Club on Friday. A pair of Majors earned top-20 finishes as Annie Piggott secured 18th-place with a 13-over 85 and Gabe Brooks tied for 15th-place with a four-over 77. Both teams are currently sitting in seventh place.
On the women's side, Lindsey Gordon and Kati Albright marked one birdie each to highlight day one. Gordon was second on the team with a score of 99 (27-over). Albright and Sophia Albasini posted identical rounds of 102 (30-over) to round out the scoring for the Majors. Fellow classmates Mallory Noble (114, 42-over) and Sarah Pehler (121, 49-over) also competed.
In the first round for the men, three Majors currently sit tied for 33rd place behind Brooks in a what was a tightly contested day. Andrew Lovejoy, Charlie Ellery and Will Danielson all fired a score of 82 (+9). They were followed by Krtin Udith, who shot an 83. Polishing off the competition for the men was Harrison Rhymes, who produced an 89 (+16).
Millsaps will regroup for Round Two of the SAA Championships on Saturday morning. Tee off is set for 7 a.m. with live leaderboards at gomajors.com.
