JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps men's and women's tennis programs hosted Oglethorpe University for their Southern Athletic Association conference home openers on Saturday. The women's team was victorious 8-1, while the men's team was downed 7-2 on the Coach Montgomery Courts. Both teams will be back in action to face Berry on Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.

In doubles action, Morris Kelly Clayton and Camille Fremaux started strong and never looked back in an 8-3 victory. The Stormy Petrels would claim their lone match victory on Court 2 but the duo of Mary Dabadie and Madison Williams would preserve a convincing 8-1 win on Court 3.
In singles play, Clayton and Williams took full control as neither athlete allowed their opponent to win more than two games in either of their sets. Fremaux played in the most entertaining match as she was able to grind out a 7-6 victory in set one, followed by a 6-2 winner. Kiana Everhart and Marissa Brown held serve on Court 1 and 2, leaving no doubt with strong performances in their wins.

In doubles play, Trevor Vaccaro and Hamilton Jackson fought valiantly in a 9-8 instant classic but fell just short at Court 1. Oglethorpe would then win matches two and three to claim a sweep.
In singles play, John Kimball exhibited a quality performance (6-2, 6-0) on Court 1 as he claimed the first victory of the day for the Majors. Jackson would then claim the second triumph with a 6-3, 6-4 win on Court 3.
