LEXINGTON, Ky. – Another banner year by the Millsaps volleyball team in the classroom was recognized by the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Monday. The Majors earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award following the 2021-22 season for the third consecutive season.

Beginning in 1992-93, the award honors volleyball teams which maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. The Majors posted an average cumulative GPA of 3.505 and are among over 1,200 collegiate and high school teams to make the award list.

"Academic achievement does not happen by accident," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "I'm so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority."

The Millsaps volleyball team is scheduled to open the season at the Virginia Wesleyan University Tournament, Sept. 2-3. The Majors will open their regular season home slate in the Millsaps Invitational, Sept. 9-10.
